Interactive sideways suspension tutorial video now live

Finally got it uploaded! It seems whatever was holding it up in the processing queue has been cleared by the techies and all’s well now.

The final edit came up to over 40 mins and covers a student who is fairly new to suspension getting some advice and guidance as she does a sideways suspension. This is not just for beginners. There is interesting information for all levels of experience. There’s some pretty in-depth stuff that might surprise a few relatively seasoned riggers, e.g. how do Kazami Ranki and Marai Masato fine tune a gote for the most flattering display of the breasts? What’s the difference in the way Kinoko, Osada and Arisue support the hips?

Check it out here.

One of the next projects will be adapting gotes for those with limited flexibility. Many people can’t achieve the classic forearms parallel behind position due to muscle bulk, obesity or simple lack of flexibility. This means that they either can’t get their hands far enough together for safe rope placement or, in extreme cases, even to allow them to be tied with the usual single column binding. So, we will make the tie fit the person using standard shibari ‘ingredients’ combined with an understanding of their uses. Judging by some experiments recently, it will throw up a few challenges to build a suspension capable gote without plagiarising existing solutions too heavily.
